29 Dec: Getting Healthy in 2018

It’s no secret. Getting healthy is one of the most (if not the most) commonly searched New Year’s resolution online. At this time of year, we’re assessing our weight, fitness, eating and sleeping habits, and more. Some of us, however, focus solely on weight loss, and although this isn’t inherently bad, it’s important to remember that “getting healthy” is more than a hyper-focus on weight loss. In fact, there are many practices that influence our weight loss and overall health. Sleep When your sleep is off, so is everything else. Of course, it’s dreamy to get at least 9 hours of sleep each night, but too much or too little sleep can actually be linked to weight gain. Not enough sleep, or oversleeping, can negatively impact how your body produces hormones, which control appetite and hunger. 23 Dec: Being You Means Being Better

Any life, no matter how long and complex it may be, is made up of a single moment–the moment a person finds out, once and for all, who they are. This is a crucial time when genuine change can actually occur because being who you are is the first step towards becoming better than you are. Inasmuch, be aware that an accurate definition of the self is impossible. This should not only take pressure off of you, but it also grants you exponential hope; you are more than you realize, more than you can define. So, the more time you spend trying to nail down that definition, the less time you spend living right now. Your past is not your identity. You, living now, is your identity. Thereby, consult not your fears, but rather your hopes and dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself…

08 Dec: Moving Forward Successfully: 8 Mindful Steps

I know firsthand what it is to struggle with a multitude of challenges. From molestation and sexual abuse to obesity, bullying, and discrimination. Trust me; there’s a lot we’re going to cover on this journey. But what I know for certain is that change is absolutely possible, and a person can reconcile the past and move forward freely–in an amazing way. If you take nothing else away from this, at least take that. Simply put, I’m not just spreading a message of hope and change; I am the message. I am walking, talking, living proof that transformation is possible from the inside out. The key? Your mind. Mindset and attitude are everything.
